Editorial

It is indeed a matter of great privilege to place before you the seventh issue of bi-annual multidisciplinary peer reviewed GBS Impact. This journal is an effort to provide a platform to research scholars, academicians and corporate executives to disseminate their innovation, field based research and practical experiences through the publication for the benefit of the society at large.

The article ‘Study on economic production quantity in the multi item production system’ briefs the optimization of the total annual cost by using the Economic Production Quantity (EPQ) model in the production.

The research article ‘Mapping of cement counters of Raichur taluka and market profile’ explores the cement consumption in Raichur taluka and brand wise market share of cement.

Further we have a paper titled ‘Study of a Foster care program for the young dependents of people vulnerable to or infected by HIV/AIDS in Dharwad district’, an NGO project which benefited orphaned and vulnerable children (OVCs) to the foster care model and eventually increased self-confidence, economic status of women and children, reduced school dropout rate, improved well-being through regular checkups and accessibility to healthcare.

The ‘Automobile Industry - A driver for employment and growth’ this article will give a quick insight into the services and healthy growth, infrastructure development, ease of doing business and rationalization of various tax structures and consistency in policies are some of the areas which government has to focus on to give the automobile industry direction towards Make in India.

In addition we have an extensive research article on ‘Decision Making : A tourism perspective in North Karnataka’ which is about tourist’s decision on safety/security/peace and choice of the destinations.

Under the caption ‘A Study of continuous improvement practices in North America manufacturing SME's: An empirical evaluation’ this study gives the overall portrait of SME's and an attempt to understand the level of continuous improvements in SME how the enterprises are born and the cost incurred while implementing quality improvement programs.

Another conceptional paper ‘Role of the ice breaker in adult learning’ explains how to utilize the icebreaker as an effective instructional strategy towards adult learning with a boon and bane highlighting precautionary measures while conducting the icebreaker.

Further we have a paper ‘Challenges and opportunities of higher education in 21st century’, which enlightens us on the SWOT analysis and finds some future challenges for higher educations at Indian universities.

I trust that these collections of research articles and enriched experience of authors in this issue benefit the industry academicians and policymakers. I look forward to your valuable feedback to enable us to make this publication more relevant and useful in the present context.
